The Oldham project is the largest sheltered housing PFI (private finance initiative) in the UK consisting of some 1400 properties with an overall value of £400m.
Oldham is a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester with a population of 228,765. It is one of the ten member authorities of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
A project by Oldham MBC and Housing 21, with contractor Bullock Construction, Oldham PFI had a capital investment of £100m and comprised a mix of three new build projects, sixteen refurbishment projects, and assessments and minor works to over 800 individual properties.
The design by architect Calford Seaden provides Extra Care and Category 1 and 2 properties.
Working closely with Bullock Construction and Calford Seadon, CampbellReith developed standardised engineering details to match the architectural detailing and create efficiencies in the design, procurement and construction process.
Electronic data exchange via online web-hosting facilities was used to optimise the design and procurement programmes, and distribute information to the wide spread site locations.
CampbellReith’s Geo-Environmental team prepared 21 separate site investigation and land quality assessment reports. The refurbishment sites have involved a full range of structural alterations.
