CampbellReith’s engineers have been busy over the recent weeks with the design and checking of the temporary demountable structures for World Travel Market (WTM) exhibition, the leading global event for the travel industry.
A vibrant business-to-business event covering a variety of destinations and industry sectors, WTM attracts around 50,000 people every year. Among the guests are senior travel industry professionals, government ministers and international press. The event provides a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business.
WTM was launched at London’s Olympia in 1980 before moving to Earl’s Court in 1992 and then to ExCeL London in 2002. It is administered by Reed Exhibitions with whom CampbellReith has worked for 20 years now, providing structural engineering services for this prestigious event.
This year’s event started on 2nd of November, featuring about 5000 exhibitors from over 186 countries and is anticipated to have generated over £2.5 billion in industry deals.
It took the contractor teams six days to build the 33 double decker stands, 73 complex stands and 310 space structures. The CampbellReith team reviewed the complex stand calculations prior to the show and issued certificates to build. Then they worked on site for the duration of the build to ensure the structures are built as per the calculations/drawings.
