HCA appoints Tibbalds CampbellReith Joint Venture to prepare the Daedalus Enterprise Zone for 200 homes under the government’s Direct Commissioning initiative.
In January 2016 the Daedalus Waterfront site was identified by central government as the location of one of the five pilot projects for Direct Commissioning of government’s housing objectives. The ground-breaking new policy will see the government fast-track building of affordable homes on publicly owned land on a scale not seen since the regeneration of London Docklands.
The Daedalus Enterprise Zone has gradually been transformed in recent years from a former naval air base to comprise a new Innovation Centre, Fareham College’s Advanced Engineering Skills Training Centre, resurfacing of the airfield runway, construction of Daedalus Drive spine road and the construction of new residential homes. The Waterfront Site is now the main focus of this significant new development that will see investment and thousands of new jobs.
The HCA has appointed multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy CampbellReith and team that includes’ LDA Design and Carter Jonas to implement the delivery of the enabling works, remediation and infrastructure required to provide serviced residential and employment plots. Commenting on this exciting project for CampbellReith, Senior Partner David Innes said:
“We are thrilled to be involved in the next phase of Daedalus having taken the site forward since 2010. The development will serve to further emphasize the importance of the Enterprise Zone to the local economy as a perfect location for investment and growth as well as supporting the Government in their promise to reach their housing objectives”.
