I have been doing what I do in the infrastructure sector for as long as I can remember.
Since I began my career, over 30 years ago, I have been a civil engineer with a passion for highway schemes and sustainable drainage. As environmental issues have increased and the strategies for climate change have evolved, I have become even more passionate about sustainable urban drainage SuDS and have contributed to new guidance published in the CIRIA SuDS Manual and speak at regional and national conferences.
During my time at CampbellReith, I have been privileged to travel across Africa to work on some great projects in some amazing places. From walking through mangrove swamps to going back to Ghana to see our award-winning hospitals in action.
As the Partner and location lead for our Manchester and Birmingham offices, I am responsible for the delivery of our projects in the Midlands, North West and North East. I am also the Partner in charge of Civil Engineering across the business and regularly coordinate our teams, our work and our clients across the business, and every day I am inspired by the talent at CampbellReith.
Due to the nature of our work we deliver some fascinating schemes at home and abroad. Our schemes are varied – from hospitals and hotels in Africa to major regeneration schemes like Friar Park in Wednesbury.
I have extensive experience in pre-planning advice, including route selection, public and key stakeholder consultation, environmental impact assessments and planning applications. As an industry leader for civil engineering, I engage with CIRIA to promote Sustainable Drainage and the production of standards for SuDS and I am an active member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Outside of engineering
Outside work, I often pretend to play rugby for my local club, but these days prefer to stand and watch the game at both a grass roots level and international level
