My interest in contaminated land started over 20 years ago, when I read about a £1 transaction deal for a “contaminated land” parcel, which enabled my hometown football club to build a new stadium. I then went to study as BSc in Environmental Science and develop my career to where it is today.

My career started in Newcastle, where I worked on a variety of large-scale projects in the North East. I provided the role of contaminated land specialist during construction of the £260m New Tyne Crossing. Following this, I worked on one of Europe’s largest Waste Water Treatment Works after moving to Manchester in 2012. Here, I worked in the ground investigation team and remediation works at United Utilities for the Modernisation Scheme at Davyhulme.

At CampbellReith, I lead a growing team, providing land quality and geotechnical advice and support from our Manchester office. Throughout my career, the impacts on development sites from industrial history has fascinated me over the years and I have developed an interest in waste management, particularly in relation to the sustainable reuse of soils.

Outside of engineering

I love being outdoors – hiking, cycling, camping, and watching football are hobbies of mine outside of work. Indoors, I am partial to a bit of DIY!
