My first experience of being a structural engineer was at CampbellReith, when I joined the Bristol office in 2014 to complete a year in industry as part of my university course. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the Bristol team and I was fortunate enough to be offered a full-time job on completion of my master’s degree at Cardiff University.
The degree was an additional 2 years, but I was welcomed back to the Bristol office for a short time during the summer prior to entering my final year to gain more experience. After finishing my degree, I was keen to return to the much-changed Bristol office and start my career as a structural engineer.
During this time, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects across multiple sectors, helping to push both design and drawing within the structures team. One of my most significant schemes is Warminster Road in Bristol – a former Ministry of Defence site in Bath that is being transformed into a new neighbourhood of over 250 homes.
I thoroughly enjoy both the collaboration and challenges that arise from structural design, and the numerous different solutions to solving problems. Delivering designs that meets all the design team’s needs in a clear and concise manner is something that gives me great satisfaction.
Outside of engineering
I also seek collaboration and challenges outside of work through numerous individual and team sporting activities, mainly football.
