Having completed my second year of studying Structural and Architectural Engineering at the University of Bath, I am currently on my year of industrial placement before going back for my final two years.
My interest in the built environment stems mainly from my childhood in Singapore, being surrounded by buildings such as Marina Bay Sands sparked my interest in how buildings like that stand tall and endure. At the end of sixth form I was initially inclined to pursue architecture. However, under the mentorship of the founder of the Centre for Structures in Extreme Environments, I completed a research project in lunar architecture and my focus shifted towards the mathematical problem-solving aspects of structural engineering.
So far, I have greatly enjoyed the variety of projects I have been able to work on and the eagerness of others to share their knowledge and experience. I can only look forward to what the rest of this year has in store!
Outside of engineering
Outside of work you will often find me attending jazz gigs in and around London, and sometimes even playing a gig or two myself either on the keys or sax! I also regularly enjoy hiking with friends on the weekend.
