Over the past 25 years, I have been developing my skills as a land regeneration specialist; my early focus started with water pollution and fisheries ecology for government agencies, before entering commercial environmental consultancy. Initially, I started working on land contamination which broadened my experience into the wider sphere of engineering and land development.
Fortunately, I have been able to apply my geochemistry qualification to the remediation of several former industrial sites which have been affected by land contamination. The diverse range of these sites include landfills, shipyards, collieries, and steelworks. I have also had opportunities to lead multidisciplinary teams constructed of ecologists, geotechnical engineers, civil and structural engineers, amongst others. Together, we have delivered new residential, commercial, and industrial developments both in the UK and internationally.
My original motivation to start my career was a strong interest in the natural world and environmental science. This interest has been threaded throughout my work and has featured as part of the process of Environmental Impact Assessment and applying the sustainable development principles to our engineering and remedial designs.
I am dedicated to ensuring the development of innovative solutions, forming cost effective environmental outcomes. Considering this, I am in excellent company at CampbellReith – a dynamic and highly innovative consultancy. The challenge of learning and solving problems drives me and I enjoy working with a team of equally driven professionals.
Outside of engineering
I enjoy spending much of my free time with family amongst the nature in the South Downs, running, swimming, riding bikes and enjoying the landscape.
