CampbellReith was appointed by Homes England to provide consultancy and contract administration services to de-risk and open up redevelopment of this former MoD site.

Client name: Homes England

Project value: £6m (infrastructure)

CampbellReith was appointed by Homes England to provide consultancy and contract administration services to de-risk and open up the former MoD site for development through the design and construction of primary infrastructure to create serviced plots. This work was a continuation of earlier work undertaken by CampbellReith on the Daedalus site.

The site was covered by one Masterplan but was subject to two planning applications as the site crosses the boundary of Fareham Borough Council and Gosport Borough Council. The proposals comprise the phased demolition of former military buildings and the construction of up to 232 residential units, 100,000 m²of B1/B2/B8 floorspace (associated with the operational private airfield), a new east-west link road and internal road network, and new airside and landside facilities for relocated aircraft usage.

The works completed as part of the Daedalus 4 Implementation primarily related to the design and construction of primary infrastructure to help open the site up for development.

A GIS Site Model (GISSmo)has been created to collate documents relating to all aspects of the site, both historical and current, and locating them geographically so that information can be retrieved quickly by anyone in the team, helping to ensure that knowledge about the site is not lost as various sections change ownership.
