Refurbishment works to the former Homebase unit included removal of gable blockworks and infill with new glazing, new recesses in the existing slab for a new freezer unit and new drainage runs to individual chiller units for the new tenant.
CampbellReith also provided the civil and structural design for the landlord’s shell works and for the new A3 retail unit pods constructed within the former, external garden centre yard. The pod units were designed as braced steel frames supported on piled ground beams with a suspended ground floor slab.
Our services also extended to specifying, managing and reporting on the site investigations to determine the geotechnical properties for foundation designs and ground contamination issues.
This information and oversight of the Contractor’s piling works also allowed us to support the planning consultant in discharging planning conditions relating to contamination.
