Recently, our Land Quality and Environmental teams were delighted to be joined by Cara, a placement student from a local secondary school.
Cara began the week gaining exposure to how we apply the land contamination risk management process to ensure the sustainable redevelopment of brownfield sites, while controlling the risks from contamination to end users and our natural environment.
This was followed by a whistle-stop tour of environmental impact assessment and applying this to a proposed renewable energy scheme. The team noted her impressive ability to consider the baseline conditions of a site, and then identify which measures to put in place to ensure the enhancement of biodiversity, management of flood risk and preservation of the existing landscape.
