25-32 Chancery Lane is a 100,000 ft² office and retail development situated in this historic legal quarter of the City of London. The £38m redevelopment of this 1876 building, also known as Lonsdale Chambers, retained the original façade and the lower ground floor level.
The building provides nine floors of modern office and retail space. It is a long span, steel frame building with concrete floor slabs cast on metal decking. Mechanical and electrical services have been built into the structural steelwork to maximise floor-to-ceiling heights. The new basement level is divided between office and retail space, and basement plant. CampbellReith carried out a geotechnical analysis to determine the effect of excavation on the new building and provide parameters for the design. The scheme maintains Chancery Lane’s traditional character and meets the demands of the modern occupier:
