Meet the team

Nicola Simonini

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

I joined CampbellReith immediately after completing my MSc in Geotechnical Engineering at Newcastle University in 2017. I am now a proud member of the geotechnical team, which supports the structural engineering team when a geotechnical perspective is required.

I am responsible for writing desktop studies and site investigation specifications, supervising site works, and reporting on-site investigation findings. I provide geotechnical recommendations for a range of projects, applying many of the principles I learned at University. I love the challenge of complex and multi-disciplinary projects, where I use software for geotechnical analysis.

In every project, I respect the importance of the impact our choices may have on the environment, which is why I enjoy working collaboratively with our environmental team. CampbellReith has some of the most talented geotechnical engineers, all of whom are working on complex developments. Recent examples include the 132ha site at Kilnwood Vale where we have excavated and treated over 1 million m3 of landfill material and important regeneration projects like Whittingham Hospital, a 40ha residential scheme delivered on behalf of Homes England.

Geotechnical engineering is a vast field with endless learning opportunities and endless opportunities to build sustainable communities. CampbellReith is the perfect place to allow me such opportunities.

Outside of engineering

I enjoy reading books on the arts and history. I am a proficient chess player, and I also practice calisthenics.
